According to Shakta tradition, Tarapith is both a Shakti Peeth and a Siddha Peeth.We belief says the third eye of Sati fell here after Vishnu cut her body with the Sudarshan Chakra. That is why the place became associated with intense spiritual energy, especially connected to Maa Tara one of the Ten Mahavidyas.
